FAW Trust

FAW Trust

I was appointed by the FAW Trust back in April – it is the charitable arm of the Football Association of Wales and it is responsible for the development of the game in Wales.

And what a few months it has been! With the Wales team excelling at the Euros, we certainly made the most of the opportunity to promote what’s happening at the grassroots end of the game in Wales.

Work kicked off with a ‘one month to go’ media opportunity with Ian Rush MBE at Dragon Park in Newport to introduce the media to the work and the achievements of the Trust. This was quickly followed up with interviews in both Wales and France.

Notable coverage highlights included BBC Breakfast, Daily Mail, Sky Sports News, Le Monde and The Daily Telegraph. The profile of the FAW Trust was raised within Wales too with regular interviews across BBC Wales, ITV Wales, Media Wales and other outlets.

100% brand mention was achieved across 37 pieces of coverage – 25% of which was UK national media articles or interviews.

Britain on Film

Film PR Wales (1)

So once again this summer, I’ve been delving into the film archives. The BFI commissioned me for a second year to handle the PR for Britain on Film in Wales.

Britain on Film is one of the most significant film archive projects ever undertaken by the BFI and encompasses content from the BFI National Archive and the UK’s nine national and regional Screen Archives. And this summer,  more than 750 films looking at Rural Life from 1900 to 1999 have been released online, many unseen since they were first shown.

The highlights? A full page in the Western Mail’s Saturday Magazine, a piece on BBC News Wales Online as well as interviews on Radio Wales’ Good Morning Wales and a 20 minute slot on Radio Cymru. Coverage also featured across across the Radio Wales Arts Show, Made in Cardiff TV and local and regional media including the Daily Post and South Wales Evening Post. Features on ITV Wales News and S4C’s Heno are expected later this month.

I’m thrilled to be working with the FAW Trust in the run up to Euro 2016. It is the charitable arm of the FAW and is responsible for the development of football in Wales. I’ve been commissioned to generate media coverage communicating their achievements and ambitious vision.

Wales Sport Awards 2015

Last December, BBC Cymru Wales and Sport Wales teamed up to celebrate the very best in sport at the Wales Sport Awards.

It is Wales’s biggest annual sporting celebration and it is where the BBC Cymru Wales Sports Personality of the Year is unveiled.

The Awards also celebrate the nation’s community sporting heroes – the coaches, the organisers and the helpers that ensure sport happens week in, week out, come rain or shine.

I was called upon to interview all 16 community finalists and to produce human interest profiles which were provided to local media and used as online content to raise awareness of the amazing contributions of Wales’ sporting heroes. More here.

Britain on Film

Last summer, I was squirrelled away working on a very exciting project – Britain on Film. It generated huge media coverage right across the UK and dominated social media timelines too.

Britain on Film is one of the most significant film archive projects ever undertaken by the BFI and encompasses rarely and unseen content from the BFI National Archive and the UK’s nine national and regional Screen Archives.

The films digitised for the project span from the 1890s to the present day and uncover a hidden history of the UK.

I was appointed by the BFI to handle the PR campaign in Wales and generated 46 pieces of print, broadcast and online coverage.

The highlights? Interviews on all of BBC Wales’ TV, radio and online news platforms in English and Welsh, a five minute feature on S4C’s Heno magazine show, a double page spread in Western Mail’s Saturday magazine, an interview on the Radio Wales Arts Show plus features in Wales’ regional and local press and key blogs.

School Sport Survey 2015

School Sport Survey

In 2015, Sport Wales undertook the School Sport Survey. The  views and opinions of 116,000 children and young people were gathered from right across Wales in the pursuit to get every child in Wales hooked on sport for life. It is the biggest survey of its kind in the UK.  I was commissioned to interview a number of teachers and local authorities and prepare case studies, demonstrating the very real importance of the survey. Bitesize infographic text was also prepared. More here.

Hope & Social

Screen Shot 2015-06-25 at 17.05.34

Again representing Made by Marketing  for client NYMAZ, but this time we were busy promoting a live broadcast by one of North Yorkshire’s best loved bands – Hope & Social.

The exclusive broadcast was part of Connect: Resound, a project exploring how digital technologies can be used in rural areas to provide instrumental tuition and access to live music performances.

The band members gave a behind-the-scenes insight into being in a band. They even showed how the recording process works – from playing the music to mixing the track.

Local breakfast radio slots were secured along with print coverage. It caused a real buzz in trade media including live streaming from the Music Education UK website. More here.

Gone in the Air

Nymaz

Working via Made by Marketing, I was responsible for securing media coverage around the launch of the Gone in the Air report for NYMAZ – the youth music development charity. It outlined the opportunities and challenges faced by young people living in rural areas and the benefits that out of school music activities can offer to their life chances.

Highlights? Securing an opinion piece in the Yorkshire Post and hearing the story on breakfast radio. More here.
